Conference opening speech
By Evert Ypma, chairman and curator Entrepreneurial Day Zurich 2007:

Difference as Potential

'Due changing conditions entrepreneurs from all over the world pose the question how cultures, disciplines and business fields can be amalgamated and how this can generate new chances. Really good and useful ideas are not easy to find. This is the reason for our leitmotiv 'Flexibility in Changing Conditions' of this year’s Entrepreneurial Day Zurich. The three dimensions ‘The human being’, ‘Business’, ‘Society’ shape our programme and the choice of speakers during this venue.

We aim to reflect the various issues and questions from multiple vantage points, which enables us to gain more perspectives on certain problematic. As practical approach we commit ourselves to the dialogue. This allows through direct and confronting debate to sense the different positions towards a subject. How more arguments are being differentiated and versatile the more challenging the process will be to make decisions.

But if one engages him or herself with these kind of complex processes, one will be surprised that the unexpected and the extraordinary will happen and which would benefit business and corporation dramatically. Our aim is therefore to sensitize you for the selected themes from other disciplines. These interdisciplinary blends are places of difference and we acknowledge them as undiscovered potentials. We hope that this conference will inspire you and we will be very pleased if further ideas will emerge from it.'
