Reorganization and Identity
Transformation of an informal organization
Museum De Laarman in Luttenberg (NL) has an informal organization culture due the fact that the hundred local staff members contribute to the museum on voluntary basis. The various tasks in the museum are carried out in different and changing staff configurations. This depends on the availability of skills and interest of each individual member. The social dynamics around the museum needed to be sensed, analysed, and integrated in all considerations of the masterplan.
The process comprised internal consultation meetings, board and group workshops, and the integration of external stakeholders as governmental bodies, the municipality council, and museology and heritage specialists. This corporate identity process could be described as a typical ‘uncorporate identity process’.
