Design | Art + Innovation has been a postgraduate study programme on design and artistic innovation at the Basel School of Design between 2002-2009. Participants were junior and senior professionals with miscellaneous backgrounds in art and design. Due its open and transdisciplinary set up in which art, design and science interfered with each other also specialists from fields (e.g. organizational consultants, economists) found their way to this two-year course programme. An important part of the students’ development were the thesis projects, which have been coached highly individual by different academic and artistic coaches.
Evert Ypma has been tutor in this programme from 2005 – 2009 as lecturer and tutor for thesis projects. In focus were subjects as visual essay methodologies, design process, scenario thinking, design attitudes, design cultures, design in relation to science practices.
